We are Tosin (from Indianapolis) and Jen (from Denver). We are friends and runners who happen to be running the 2019 London Marathon on behalf of Genetic Disorders UK!
Genetic Disorders UK is a registered charity with a vision to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic disorders. They offer support services and resources for families and patients.
There are between 4,000 and 6,000 diagnosed genetic disorders. It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. Some genetic disorders are apparent at birth while others are diagnosed at different stages throughout childhood, and sometimes into adulthood.
This cause is very close to both of us, as Tosin's son has a genetic disorder (Diamond-Blackfan anemia, or DBA), Jen has a rare disease, and we both have several friends who have been affected directly by genetic conditions themselves. We are hoping to raise $3000.00 before the marathon on April 28, 2019! All funds will be sent directly to the charity through our donation portal after we receive them.
Please support us however you can!
