Kristina Johnson's Community Corps Fund

Hello friends, family, and beyond!

I am excited to announce that in less than one month I will be arriving in Austin, Texas for my apprenticeship at Community First! Village!

For those of you who may not have heard, here is a short synopsis of what I will be doing in Spring 2019!

WHO: Me!

WHAT: Community First! Village. Christian nonprofit Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) developed this 51-acre tiny house (look these things up--they’re super rad) community in order to provide affordable housing, microenterprise jobs, and a supportive community to the formerly homeless. I will be working in the garden microenterprise teaching gardening skills to both the clients who work there and the volunteers.

WHERE: Austin, Texas!

WHEN: I will be there from January 28th - May 3rd, 2018.

WHY: Because to put it simply:

1. I love the Lord and I feel like this is what He is calling me to do.

2. I love helping people.

3. I love hearing people’s stories.

4. I love plants, nature, and local foods.

5. I love tiny houses.

6. I love exploring unconventional ways of life.

MLF is a largely-run-by-volunteers kind of ministry and Community First Village is only about four and a half years old! According to Community Corps director Bethany Hebbard, though someday MLF desires to offer volunteers the ability to work and live in Community First Village for free, or even for a small stipend, unfortunately, that is simply not an option yet! Therefore, Community Corps is a program that is currently able to be offered due to the participants' willingness to either pay their way, raise support, or a combination of the two.

The total cost of my term with Community Corps will be $3500.

The cost breakdown is as follows:

Orientation & Retreats = $200

Curriculum Expenses (books, etc.) = $200

Community Life = $300

Staff Salary = $500

Housing = $2300

With the help of family and friends, and most of all the Lord! There has already been $1,320 that has been given towards my term with Community Corps!

To those who have already given, I cannot thank you enough for your generosity!

As you may have noticed, I am hoping to raise a bit over $2000 within the next month.

So for this last month of fundraising, I thought I would try something fun! (Credit to my friend Jared Barnes who used this method for support raising for his mission with EMI last year. Thank you for the idea Jared!)

As an incentive to give, in the next month, I will be giving to YOU too!

If you feel called to give, here are some smalls signs of gratitude that I will give you for your donation amounts! I think that they are pretty fun and I hope that you do too :)

Here we go!

If you donate...

$5 to $9 = I'll write a haiku (5, 7,5 syllable) poem about you.

$10 to $19 = In addition to the above, I'll write an acrostic (name poem) poem about you.

$20 to $49 = In addition to the above, I'll make a meme for you with me and you in it.

$50 to $100 - I will record myself singing a song about you (to the tune of your choice if you wish). (Or one of the above).

$100 to $199 -I will record myself singing a song about you while also doing an interpretive dance in your honor (to the tune of your choice if you wish). (Or one of the above).

$200 to $499 = I will record myself singing a song about you while also doing an interpretive dance in your honor (to the tune of your choice if you wish) in a CROWDED PUBLIC SETTING. (Or one of the above).

$500 plus = You pick what I do! (As long as it is legal ;). (Or one of the above). Feel free to make me do ANYTHING that your heart desires!

Thank SO SO SO much for reading and considering! I am serious when I say that a donation of ANY amount will mean the world to me! ♥ Thank you in advance!

If you would rather mail a check, please make checks payable to “Kristina Johnson” and write “Community Corps” on the memo line. I 100% promise that all of the checks are being deposited into an account set up specifically for my support-raising process.

Send checks or money to:

-Before January 20th: 5919 24th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901

-After January 20th: Kristina Johnson, 9301 Hog Eye Road, Suite 950, Austin TX 78724.

That is all for now!

Thank you so much and God's blessings on the New Year!!

♥ Kristina
