DORIAN IS DESPERATE FOR YOUR HELP!

On Saturday, 4/4 an emergency call came into the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter.

The fellow on the phone said that a stray dog had come into the garage at his grandparents home.  He told us the smell from the dog was just horrific.  He felt that the dog had come in to find a place to die.  He could see multiple injuries on the poor dog.

So Donna was sent out to collect  the dog.  When she arrived she got waaaaay more than she bargained for!

Somehow the dog managed to get up into the attic over the garage.  Now, this wasn't some little dog.  This dog was huge and had many injuries.  Because of the pain that he was suffering, capturing him would take some careful planning and maneuvering.  Miraculously, she managed to get the dog into the van and safely back to the shelter.

His injuries were severe enough that it was decided that he needed to go to the vet immediately.   No small task, in light of the Carona Virus situation, there are very few vets that will admit animals right now.  Fortunately, Clarkesville Vet admitted him and started to work.

They determined that he had many bite wounds that had gotten horribly infected.  His right ear was full of maggots and pus.  There are bite wounds all around his neck, ears and on his face and legs.  If the call hadn't come in, the infection would have killed this huge pup.

Because he has bite wounds of unknown origin, and we have know way of knowing if he had been vaccinated for Rabies, he will need to be quarantined for 4 months.

Funding for the vetting, and the special requirements of a Rabies quarantine, would normally be provided by the Joey's Fund.  That is a special fund for emergencies such as this. Unfortunately, our Joey's Fund is precariously low right now.  We don't have enough to cover his visit to the vet....let alone pay for keeping, and caring for him, for four months.

We know times are very tight right now.  Please, no amount is too small!  Make sure to share this post, too!

In order for us to save this guy, we need your help!

Thank you so much!
