Hello. My name is Laura. I'm in a very bad situation and I wanted to know if anyone could possibly help. My husband and I have separated due to domestic violence issues and my son and I have relocated back to NYC as it seemed like upstate I was treated as a criminal as opposed to a victim. Because of the situation I lost my job, car, belongings and had to leave my home . Basically my dream of moving upstate has turned into a true nightmare. We have no help financially (aside from the help of a few true friends) and no income at the moment and are staying at a family shelter. Although the shelter is awesome by helping me start over to get a job and housing, right now I have no income at all while I wait to get daycare assistance so I can return to work and we are really struggling. I was able to get emergency food stamps which was a huge help but it wasn't much until I'm approved officially in 4-6 weeks, and 3 year olds like to eat. Lol. We left upstate with just the clothes on our back and whatever clothes I could fit in a few bags but it wasn't much. Still more than worth it though to get out of the situation I was in. The little money I came here with is long gone being that I needed food for Jayden and other basic necessities. I dont care about myself but Jayden has very little summer clothes, no toys aside from a few from the shelter, no tv to watch and our food is running low. I am also almost out of basic items such as laundry money, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, dish soap, etc. I also have to figure out a way to get upstate in 2 weeks for Janelle's high school graduation which her and I both worked so hard for . It's a very degrading situation to be in and to need to ask for help but I will do anything for my children so that's what brings me here. If there is anyway anyone could help us out financially or even any household items it would be greatly appreciated. Anything would help, even $1, 5 or $10. I know money is tight all around so I totally understand if you cant help but please keep us in your prayers. Thank you for listening.
