Back-to-school Appeal for Students / Phoenix Team Gaza

More than two-thirds of low income families have seen a family member lose their job because of the effects of Covid-19.

We’re raising money to provide kits stuffed with supplies for children from underserved communities – and we’re calling on the community to get behind us. The more funds we raise, the more support we can provide to local centers and their service users. We want to give these young people a better chance to succeed this academic year. And we need your help.

For our underserved communities – low income families, children of parents who may be experiencing unemployment – the costs associated with the new academic year can bring with it the burden of financial strain, for what many would consider to be basic essentials.

At Phoenix Gaza Team, we assist local nonprofits and their service users year-round by providing much-needed program support and volunteer services. Through this work, we see first-hand how greatly financial hardship impacts the lives and wellbeing of Gaza most vulnerable families. Part of the strain on them can be eased by providing supplies to local nonprofits that serve them — this includes the three we’ve identified below.

How you can help

As we head into the new academic year, we invite you to help us support these community groups. Phoenix Gaza Team is running an appeal for the next three weeks to fund 200 ‘Back-to-School’ kits.

100% of the funds raised will be spent on securing and providing supplies such as backpacks, school shoes, notepads and pens.

Each Back-to-School kit costs 80$ and will include the following essentials but not limited to*:

    Backpack or shoes (as needed)

    Stationary

    Water bottle

    Lunchbox

    Board games/Art craft kits

    * Contents may be modified slightly depending on the requirements of each community center and their service users.

Phoenix Gaza Team is partnering with three local non-profits to provide these Back to School kits for the groups they serve across Gaza, Palestine.

Our Goal

We aim to raise a minimum of 5000$—to fund at least 200 kits and we can only do it with YOUR support!

Who are we?

We  the Phoenix Gaza Youth team from Gaza,  Palestine, believe in the role  of youth in society and our ability to  influence the world and change  it. We have carried out many initiatives  such as the distribution of  Ramadan food baskets to poor families,  sponsorship of orphans, and the  distribution of clothes to children.
