CHARLIE’S SURGERY

PUP-DATE!

Charlie had his surgery last week! It all went very well and he is very slowly healing. He is none too impressed with his donut and “cone of shame” but at least his pain is lessening.

The surgery cost almost $5400. This campaign has already been a huge success to allow Charlie to have the procedure done. The donations to date are actually less than the number listed, as the offline cash donations of $810 was somehow added twice by admin. So, basically, we are still trying to raise an additional $2000 to help cover all the extra post-op expenses for Charlie and Raynee which include meds, transport, vet visits, and eventually rehab.

Big Thanks go out:

to VEATA for their very generous grant of $2500.

to Aurora at Prancing Pony for the donation of $500.
to everyone that donated to the bottle drive that raised over $1000

to all the many individual donors both on here and directly to Raynee.

to Christa Morrison for the loan of the sling and ramp.

It takes a village and we are almost at our goal!
Please share if you are able.

many many thanks!

Kim, for Raynee and Charlie

Original Post

Charlie needs an expensive surgery. We need your help to raise the necessary funds.

Charlie is Raynee’s best friend, companion, and an all around amazing, sweet dog. He has recently, seriously injured his knee and now requires immediate TPLO surgery. Raynee has had two independent vet consultations for her boy and they both agree Charlie is an excellent candidate for this surgery, but it needs to happen as soon as possible.

Now let us tell you about our dear friend Raynee Taylor.

Raynee is one of nicest, most genuine and generous people we know. She will show up to help on a moment’s notice and would offer the shirt off her back. Raynee has quietly struggled in recent years with her health, chronic pain, cognitive function, memory problems and some pretty serious financial issues. Yet, she never complains and never asks for help. Raynee lives on a very modest disability income and now finds herself completely overwhelmed and struggling due to these added financial demands, which are well beyond her means. However, she still remains very uncomfortable asking for any help, even when she really needs it most. We are very honoured and grateful she has given us permission to set up this crowdfunding campaign for her.

This is a time when we all need to hold up her up.

The surgery alone will cost $5500. Plus, an extensive recovery process for Charlie means further costs will continue to pile up. There will be additional expenses for pain meds, X-rays, cartrophen injections, follow-up vet visits, aftercare, rehab, ferries, gas, and of course ramps and other mobility aids for Charlie. These costs could conservatively total an additional $3000 for Raynee.

We have already received a very generous grant offer from VEATA (Volunteer Education & Assistance Team for Animals) for up to $2500 to cover some of the cost of the actual surgery. Any donations made directly to them will help with the remaining cost of the surgery and are also eligible for tax receipts. They can be reached at veatasociety@gmail.com.

So far, we have managed to raise a portion of the necessary funds from a few lovely individuals, and this weekend we will be at the Prancing Pony in Gibsons, beside the recycling depot, for a Bottle & Can Drive. If you are in the neighbourhood, please come by to show your support.

We have specifically chosen this fundraising platform as they have no additional hidden costs or fees. So, if you are able to help, please either donate here, or through VEATA directly. If you would prefer to send an e-transfer please let us know and we can send you our contact info.

We would truly appreciate any amount you can donate!

Please know how much your support will mean for our dear friend Raynee and her super sweet companion Charlie!
