Early in the spring of 2021, Shelby was a little over one year old. She was running and playing and she injured her left knee.
Shelby's family loves her dearly, so Shelby had surgery to repair her torn cruciate ligament. It was very expensive (In the thousands) She had the surgery, the family leash walked her for 9 weeks.
Shelby was so happy to be able to run again....and then, disaster struck Shelby again. This time she tore the ligaments in her right knee.
The family is not able to pay for another surgery for Shelby, so the search began for a rescue that could provide what they could not. It is a gut-wrenching decision to have to make.
Wendy, from Second Hand Dog, received the call and said yes! Shelby is still in GA where she will remain until after she has her surgery. The cost of the surgery in GA is much less than having the same surgery in Rochester, NY.
But in order for SHD to take on this responsibility, they need your help. Please, no amount is too small.
