Help with Hockey Acadamy fees

Rocky Nordvie is a member of the Shishalh Nation and also half Kaska Dene. He has been playing hockey since he was 3 years old, he just started skating, no bar, just skating because he had a little hockey stick and just wanted to play hockey.

Rocky started playing tyke hockey 2 weeks before his 4th birthday, he then played for the Sunshine Minor hockey until he was 13 years old. 

In 2019 Rocky was referred to play for West Vancouver Hockey Association as it was a higher tier and the level of hockey he was playing was not available to him on the Sunshine Coast.

Rocky has struggled with severe learning difficulties, he was diagnosed with Complex Neurodevelopment Brain Disorder. Our local school district supported him as much as they could. The level of support that he required was not available on the Sunshine Coast, the district referred us to an Online Homeschooling program - Self Design Home Learning,  https://www.selfdesign.org/progra...  This program turned out to be amazing for Rocky, the amount of online and Zoom support he was given turned his education levels up dramatically. 

As a result of the support to bring Rocky up to the level of education he should have been at we were able to apply to Private schools for him to not only ensure that he would continue to excel in his education but on the ice as well.

Like every other kid, Rocky has been passionate about Hockey. His dream is to become a professional Hockey player.  Whether or not this will happen the ability for him to excel in both Education and Sports has been an amazing opportunity for him.  Without this opportunity we most certainly be in a situation where Rocky would not be attending school or playing hockey, his self esteem and health would be a major concern.

Rocky has been scouted by coaches for Team North, invited to the Saskatchewan Braves prospect team camp and has travelled to play in  San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas and the Yukon.

This year Rocky was asked to play for the Pursuit of Excellence U16 Prep team in Kelowna, he was so excited to go but was then told that their academy could not accommodate his learning disabilities. Rocky was then invited and accepted to Pacific Coast Hockey Academy https://www.pcha.ca/the-academy/#... ,U16 Prep team in Victoria, where he is thriving. 

We are from the Shishalh Nation, our nation in the past has always ensured our children's education was a priority and have always supported families financially who had the opportunity to attend private school.  Unfortunately this year (September 30, 2020) our nation decided to do a review of our private school funding and put a freeze on it until further notice.  Unfortunately we had no idea that we would not be assisted financially for our private school fees, until Rocky had already started school.  Please note that our nation has supported a number of families in our nation with funding for private school over the last 30 years. This has been a shock and has put us in financial crisis as we have now been paying for the school fees and billeting fees for this year out of our pocket. Under normal circumstances we would be able to cover the cost no problem, however due to the COVID pandemic I lost my job, my husband's workload has decreased dramatically leaving us with very little funds.

The total cost of the program per year is: 

School fees: $18,900

Billet fees: $6,000

We have paid out of our pocket $11,600, amount owing is $13,300
